Introduce yourself to Caitlin Linney, also known as LINNEY. She is a singer songwriter from LA beginning to make a name for herself as a pop vocalist. She is also premiering her new EP, Things We Say, on Casablanca Sunset today.
As a relatively new name to the genre, LINNEY already has a handful of accomplishments. She’s opened for Josh Turner and Easton Corbin along with appearances at The Staples Center, Texaco Country Showdown and worked with Grammy Award winning Ran Jackson to produce her latest EP.
LINNEY’s powerful voice showcases her abilities to cover multiple genres. Her sound is a mix of electronic, indie pop and vocal house. The sky is the limit for this talented and passionate musician. For a real taste of her song writing capabilities check out the song “Now Or Later,” featured on the EP below. Wow!
We are excited to premiere the Things We Say EP and encourage everyone the check out her Q&A below.
Casablanca Sunset: Congrats on your EP! Tell us a bit about it?
Linney: When I first started this project, I really wanted to create something that makes you want to jump in the car, windows down, music up, and drive. I wanted upbeat, anthemic, feel-good tunes that make you feel alive. Something that makes your day a little brighter.
CS: How would you describe your style?
L: Indie Pop. Pop as in structure and writing with an organic feel.
CS: How long have you been singing?
L: Since I can remember! Music has always been the central focus of my life.
CS: Who are some of your musical influences?
L: I love Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Ellie Goulding and Robyn.
CS: What are some other artists you are listening to right now?
L: Artists currently in rotation on my Spotify playlist: Meg Myers, The Chainsmokers, DNCE, Selena Gomez, Alessia Cara, Daya, Mike Posner. Oh! And Alan Walker’s “Faded.”
CS: Plans for 2016?
L: 2016 has already been very kind to me. I started the year off with winning the NAMM John Lennon Songwriting Contest with my song, “Coming Back for More” and performed there on the main stage in Anaheim. The most recent single, “That Night,” was added to a couple official Spotify playlists, which was awesome. And I recently released the official music video for that on YouTube. This year I’m very excited to put out this EP, and start playing more shows!
CS: What comes after the EP?
L: After EP 1, Things We Say, the plan is to play shows and get the music out there! A second EP is in the works, so check out my Twitter/Instagram for updates on that 🙂 @linneyofficial
