Earlier this week I watched the increasingly popular documentary Searching For Sugarman. SFS is a powerful documentary about the undiscovered 1970’s superstar, Rodríguez, who in the late 1990s had an unexpected revival of his musical career in South Africa. If you haven’t seen the documentary I encourage you to watch it, and if you have then you know what I am talking about. It’s a powerfully moving cinderella-esque story told in the late 1990s between South Africa and Detroit, Michigan. In reaction to the documentary Feder Universe released a bootleg of Rodríguez’s 1973 song Can’t Get Away last week. Needless to say the song is super good and crazy catchy. Brings the groove and delivers a serenadingly sophisticated string section. This is Feder Universe’s first and only release to date. Hopefully more to come.
