Four-piece ensemble Crewless are an exciting new indie-pop outfit to watch. Their latest single, “Elevator (going down)” is steeped in stylish melancholy and is a poignant debut offering.
The B side to “Elevator (going up),” this downtempo variation of the double-sided single is a moody, atmospheric alt-pop gem teeming with emotional appeal. Despite its heavy-hearted bravado, this Crewless original is anything but fragile. Haunting feminine vocal prose collides with robust, organic instrumentals to create a towering mosaic of sweeping alternative crescendos formed out of feeling and fortissimo.
