The Australian-duo, Close Counters are back at it again. The two recently released their latest project, titled Soulacoasta.
Soulacoasta is a 12-track whirlwind ride through Soul with no safety brakes. The project we born from a nine-month European trip, in which they dug up a number of rare groove records. “Whilst visiting record stores in London, Paris, Berlin and Amsterdam we uncovered some deep cuts of rare 70s groove records, which inspired us to experiment with a more disco-boogie tinged style,” they site.
One of the mixtape’s standout singles, “Happy Song,” features bouncy a bass line, vintage synthesizers and a steady four-to-the-floor groove. It also has a 70s throwback vibe reminiscent of producers like as Kaytranada and Harvey Sutherland.
