Based in Little Rock, Arkansas, Joan are an eclectic indie duo with a knack for writing warm sun-drenched melodies. Comprised of Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford, the duo have been making a name for themselves following the release of their debut upbeat indie-pop anthem, “Take Me On,” which was featured in Spotify’s Weekly Buzz playlist.
Their latest single, “Love Somebody Like You,” features softly spoken lyrics crooned over a bass line deeply rooted in 80’s style synths and flourishes of 90’s R&B.
This song is a bittersweet love letter to that special someone who seems so close, but is yet so far away. The duo explains that, “love somebody like you is a song for someone that you obsess over. They seem out of reach, but you can’t help but to take a chance and go after them.”
