Last week, the Swedish born and LA-based artist Winona Oak released her debut single “He Don’t Love Me,” via Neon Gold Records.
Winona is previously recognized for her work as the vocalist on the Chainsmokers single, “Hope.” Winona also co-wrote two What So Not singles in 2017, “Better” and “Stuck in Orbit.”
On, “He Don’t Love Me,” Winona’s soft and heavily melodic vocal colorfully shines above stripped down instrumentation. Drawing comparisons to dark pop vocalists before her like Lana Del Rey and Sia, Winona has an incredibly unique vocal timbre.
Not only is this song catchy, but the music video is quite impressive too. Directed by Andreas Öhman, the black and white video tastefully captures Winona’s stylistic vibe while adhering to a dark pop aesthetic of the song.
