I have been hooked on Portugal. The Man ever since their release of American Ghetto in 2010. Although their hit songs on that album were far from absent on my playlists since then, I have been eager to discover some new material by Portugal to add new flavor of indie music to my library. Finally, that time has come. Purple Yellow Red and Blue is by far the best track of their newest 2013 record Evil Friends, and for good reason. Portugal is known for their experimental sound that does not necessarily attract the masses. This track (and the entire album) breaks that notion and offers both fans and fans of music who have never heard of Portugal a great blend of indie and pop. Purple Yellow Red and Blue brings out the best in Portugal while meeting the mainstream expectations of a solid track that can (and should) become viral. Not many people know about this song or album, and I’m here to help with that. Enjoy.
