Last month, Swedish DJs Oliver Nelson and Tobtok released a cover of the 1980s hit “99 Red Balloons.”
Both Nordic producers added their disco-pop twist on the already iconically famous single. The song features signature future house synths, tightly produced production and a bass line that stays true to the original melody.
The song also features a vocal performance by River, who delivers her own unique take on the original lyrics. River is no stranger to working with both of the talented producers. She has worked with both Nelson and Tobotk in the past, including Tobotk’s cover of Tracy Chapman’s 1988 classic, “Fast Car.”
Oliver Nelson and Tobtok are well known for working with the London-based label and management company Perfect Havoc. Perfect Havoc is responsible for cultivating a significant portion of both artist’s success.
Oliver Nelson recently collaborated with Kygo on his new album, Kids In Love, and as an artist has amassed 235 million plus streams across digital platforms like YouTube, Spotify and Soundcloud.
Tobtok has also long been affiliated with some of the coolest artists and labels in dance music including Kitsune, Good Soldier, Ministry of Sound/Sony while receiving support from BBC Radio 1 Pete Tong, Zane Lowe and more.
