Los Angeles-based singer & songwriter, Casey Cook is premiering her brand new single, “Pieces,” today.

“Pieces” is an emotional synth-heavy electronic pop tune that features rich melodic guitar riffs, tightly produced drums, and uplifting vocals.

The song was co-written alongside male vocalist Sammy Plotkin. Lyrically, the two craft a love song about the emotional roller coaster a broken heart and young love can entail.

Casey Cook is slotted to be featured in a handful of electronic tunes throughout the year, so be on the lookout for more from the budding topline vocalist.

You can also check out the single and a brief Q&A with Casey below.

Q&A with Casey Cook

Casablanca Sunset: How would you describe your music to someone that has never heard it before?

Casey Cook: Emotional chill-pop. The kind of music you need to listen to – hear the lyrics, understand the story, and dance a little bit in between 🙂 . Oh, and with a strong emphasis on melody & harmony. Always.

CS: Who are some of your musical influences?

CC: Sara Bareilles, Ellie Goulding, and Adele were the sparks that lit my desire to be an artist/songwriter. I love the lyrical writing from Sara, the tone of Ellie, and the soul of Adele. Some newer pop artists I love are Billie Eilish, Oh Wonder, Astrid S, and Ella Vos. I’m inspired by a lot of artists.

CS: How did the song “Pieces” come to be?

CC: My co-writer and I wrote for the first time together and it was magical. We came up with the idea of loving someone “to pieces” and then realized it has a double meaning; loving someone so much (to the moon and back, beyond words, etc), and then loving someone so much they leave you in bits and pieces, shattering your heart.

CS: What does “Pieces” mean to you?

CC: Pieces is nostalgic in a way that reminisces what it’s like to be young and in love for the first time and the feelings you have when you fall hard for someone. It’s thinking about those wild, adventurous memories you had together that you’ll hold forever, and then the overthinking that you do after you break up.

CS: Plans for upcoming music?

CC: Got a lot in the works and I’m always writing… so it never ends! On top of my artist project, I have features coming out with a handful of electronic producers/DJs. I’ve been writing for other artists/bands who will be releasing music this year. And I have new songs I’ll be releasing under my artist project a little after “Pieces.” It’s all just a waiting game 🙂 Stay tuned!
