What if Mac DeMarco and Beck put out and album? Well, it would sound like Michael Rault. This Montreal-based psychedelic rocker pushes a sound similar to what you would hear in Tame Impala. Their latest track, “Too Bad So Sad,” launches into a soothing crunchy rock riff. Backed with a sonorous organ and Michael Rault’s anthemic vocals this song kicks butt. The spacey, psych-addled bridge around 1:30 is an exceptionally well-done touch, as well, with brilliant use of phasing and extended guitar transitions. I’ve got respect for this song. Would keep an eye on this psychedelic indie rock act, they have a promising sound.
