The disco-inspired French-band, L’Impératrice recently released their full-length album Matahari in April.

The 12-song release is a dive into the group’s light-hearted and retro-inspired sound that borrows elements of French disco and indie-pop.

One of the album’s standout singles, “Forever Nobody,” features groovy synthesizers, sultry guitar tones, and a bright soft lead vocal melody. It’s quite catchy. The music video depicts a trance-like dream portraiting a femme fatale character type and looks like something like a scene from Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.

“L’Impératrice” translates from French to English to “The Empress” or “Her Majesty.”
