The Montreals, are an indie-rock outfit from Adelaide, South Australia.
Their latest release, “deadheads,” features a catchy vocal hook with distorted guitars and a punk influenced rhythm section.
According to the band, the song is an ode to Australian youth culture. The penniless slaves to a liquor-fueled good time, always counting loose change to make rent, but squandering at dingy clubs on weeknights.
Lyrically, the track also explores the negative aspects of the ‘twenty-somethings’ lifestyle; the inability to maintain long-term relationships in favor of spontaneity and the ‘now’.
In the end, it’s a super catchy track that is well composed. It is likely to be well received by fans of Wavves, The Strokes and Mac Demarco.
