Over the previous 4 years mainstream dance music found its way across the Atlantic Ocean, captivating the ears of young North American festival goers. With rock and hip-hop no longer the rebellious music of the rising youth, electronic dance music officially took its spot. It is now a sub culture that uncomfortably rivals the preceding and more culture headlining genres of America. It is not uncommon for DJs to now sell out arenas and headline festivals. A decently popular DJ can earn $100,000 in a single night, with the upper tier of DJs earning between $500,000 and $1 million. These figures suggest that DJs are the new rock star .

Mp3 technology on sites like Soundcloud and Youtube has broken barriers previously created by the major record labels and corporate-minded broadcast organizations. Anyone with a laptop and a lot of luck has the ability to create virally explosive music. This is something that no generation has experienced before. Overnight success is now possible. A nobody can easily become a somebody inside of few months. The music community saw it a handful of times in 2013.

With an open door to success comes an astronomical amount of music for media publications, blogs and radio formats to sift through. Here at Casablanca Sunset we choose to focus on quality music. We tend to focus on music that grooves and chills. Dance music that sounds great sober with minimal lyrical content. Music that is centered around melodic structure, musical composition and harmonically pleasing tones. Long story short the dance tracks we prefer fall into the groove category.

Below is the list of our favorite groove tracks from 2013. We hope you can find value and most importantly enjoy!

Take care.
