Mark Ronson’s new album Uptown Special came out this week on Sony. Needless to say the record is great and features a handful of really powerful tunes. The list of collaborators is pretty impressive, featuring 2 songs with Stevie Wonder, a national single with Bruno Mars and 3 tracks with Kevin Parker of Tame Impala.

After a listen entirely through it is clear that Mark Ronson is going to own 2015; this album is good. In my opinion this is a break through record that will put Ronson into the well deserved national spot light, but only time will tell.

Choosing one song to post on CBS was difficult, but after a few listens through I’ve decided to post, “In Case of Fire.” Featuring the talented Jeff Bhasker, this song is worth some attention. As with many aspects of the album Ronson draws influence from earlier musical genres and decades that are no longer addressed in the modern pop culture. This track delivers real rock and roll grit in a groovy demeanor. Sounds like Tame Impala meets Steely Dan. Be sure to pick up a copy of Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk on iTunes (as I did). Worth the ten dollars.
