Last summer, 6-piece organic-disco outfit L’Impératrice delivered their euphonic, funk-laden single “Voodoo?” A mellow treat from the always groovy and subtly psychedelic French ensemble, “Voodoo?” just caught its second wind with a rework from Australian duo Lazywax.
Lazywax gives “Voodoo?” an 80s synth treatment, breathing a playful life into the first rendition. The tandem balances nuanced vaporwave melodies that taper between hushed vocals and electro-jazz cadences. Embellished with a nu-wave neon feel and decadent sound design, Lazywax’s “Voodoo?” remix is an illustrious take on the L’Impératrice original.
