Every so often there is a vocalist that comes along and turns my head. Someone that stands a head of the pack, working on original and thought provoking content.
Los Angeles based artist, Joni Payne is one of those vocalists.
Her latest EP, “More To Do,” displays some promising characteristics.
Accompanied by a short film, “More To Do” features an 8 minute video that directs the listener along a journey through out Joni’s mind. She narrates the story of feeling stuck in the midst of lost love and memories.
Brendan Calder and Tom MacVicar directed the video based on concepts they developed together with Joni from the Winter of 2015 to the Spring of 2016. Pretty Please also handled audio production for the entire EP.
Needless to say the video is very well done and features an intense ocean scene at the end; where it appears that Joni is drowning and then decides to let go and move on. Some next level stuff. Check it out for yourself below.
Also recommend checking out her song “Stars Aligned,” which happens to be my favorite track on the EP. It’s a nostalgic rendition of a fading love song that is placed really well in the 8 min video.
