Hot As Sun is the solo project of LA based electro pop singer/songwriter Jamie Jackson.

Last month Hot As Sun released the single “I Can Feel Your Love,” which is now up for free download exclusively on Soundcloud.

The pop driven guitar riff and synth bass line make this song sound like a 80s pop tune that was written in 2015. Hot As Sun also delivers enchanting vocals that create a sound similar to Lana Del Rey and Zella Day. Solid stuff!

Jamie also too the time to answer a few question for Casablanca Sunset. You can find the brief Q/A below.

Q&A w/ Hot As Sun

Casablanca Sunset: How would you describe Hot As Sun to someone that has never heard your music before?

Hot As Sun: Electro Indie Pop

CS: What are some of the influences behind your music? Other artists and aspects of day-day life

HAS: Patti Smith is a huge influence on me. She’s such a strong, smart, creative woman.

CS: What did the production process look like with ‘I Can Feel Your Love’?

HAS: It took longer than it normally does because I had a baby in the middle of the process. I wrote the song and recorded synths in my basement here in LA while pregnant. My husband came down and recorded the main guitar riff/solo …..then I had my baby and took a few months off.

I had been itching to work with one of my favorite musicians – Seth Kauffman. He lives in North Carolina so I emailed him the track and the next morning I woke up to drums, bass, and additional guitars. He brought so much vibe.  My producers, The Gifted (James Bairian and Louis Castle), did such an amazing job of making sense of all the tracks we sent and added so many production elements that I love. They also mixed the track. I couldn’t be happier with the process. I was lucky to be surrounded by such cool, talented fellas.

CS: Plans for the future?

HAS: Well, I’m releasing the EP in January. It’s called “Little Friend”. My husband and I are currently composing music for a new tv show but once that’s done in the spring, we are planning to head to France to play a few shows, write and drinks lots of wine.

Thanks Jamie! Look forward to hearing more from Hot As Sun in the future. Be sure to check out Hot As Sun on Facebook and in the iTunes store here.
