Firstworld is the project of South Florida-based artist Kris Alvarez.

According to Alvarez, the music initially began as an outlet to write darker more lo-fi songs but eventually transformed into a full-fledged project currently boasting two other members, drummer Daniella Chamorro (formerly of Millionyoung) and Joey Prats (Salas), with Alvarez as the principal composer.

Their sound is heavily influenced by chillwave and lo-fi electro-pop. Drawing inspiration from the genre’s early fuzzy roots reminiscent of Life of Leisure era Washed Out with a hint of Neon Indian’s 2009 epic Psychic Chasms.

Their second single “Easy Access” was released today. It’s very melodic yet reserved and borderline shoegaze. It sounds like a heavily saturated nostalgic-pop tune.
