The Swedish indie pop band, Death In The Afternoon, released a new track titled “We Don’t Have To Go Out Tonight.”

The song features anthemic guitars, falsetto vocals and an electro pop back beat that sounds like it’s out of the 1980s. Influenced by a nostalgia and melancholy, the song portrays a synchronized feeling of tension and release. Think M83, Naked and Famous or Young Galaxy. Solid track.

In an effort to gain insight into their music influence, I asked DITA to put together a Spotify playlist of some of their favorite songs from the 80s. Needless to say they delivered. Below is a handpicked list of their favorite songs from the 1980s. Featuring tracks from Paul Simon, The Cure, The Police, Michael Jackson, New Order and more.
